Empowering Domestic Workers | Edith Murogo’s Journey
In this video, Edith Murogo, a mother, wife, director, and mentor, shares her inspiring journey that began in 2001 as a young mother and corporate professional. Recognizing the challenges women face in balancing careers and family, she started training domestic workers from her home, fostering strong relationships and realizing her potential to impact their skills development.
Building on this initiative, she partnered with the Kenya Institute of Education to develop a national curriculum aimed at empowering domestic workers. She believes that equipping individuals with skills provides them with lifelong tools to enhance their professional capabilities. The program enables domestic workers to enroll in skilling programs, with many schools in Nairobi and beyond offering training and certification. Graduates confidently secure jobs both locally and abroad, making a positive impact on their families and communities.
