Past Projects

 ILO CAPSA Project

Since January 2022, CDTD  collaborated with the International Labour Organization (ILO) on the capacity strengthening of governments to address child labor and/or forced labor, and violations of acceptable conditions of work in Sub-Saharan Africa (ILO CAPSA) project.

This partnership aimed to enhance CDTD’s capacity in eradicating child labor, forced labor, and violations of acceptable work conditions in Kenya. Our focus lied in providing quality services to survivors of these labor practices, ensuring their rights at work are upheld.

As part of our involvement, CDTD undertook  specific tasks outlined in the CAPSA project’s work plan.

  1. Enhancing assistance services for survivors of child labor and/or forced labor.
  2. Supported the strengthening of linkages between vocational training services and rescue centers at both national and county government levels, particularly for victims repatriated from the Middle East.
  3. Worked to improve coordination among agencies providing social services for victims, facilitating more efficient referral mechanisms at various government levels.
  4. Recognizing the critical need for standardized care for victims of trafficking, CDTD  played a pivotal role in developing minimum standards of care for victims of trafficking. These standards aimed to guide organizations in providing adequate care and protection to victims while planning for their eventual reintegration into their families and communities.
  5. Spearheaded the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for shelters supporting victims, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in their services.
  6. Organized a consultative forum on Labour Migration in the East African Community (EAC), furthering our efforts to address labor migration challenges in the region.
