2024 Trafficking in Persons Report Hero Award

Honored by: United States Department of State
Recipient: Ms. Edith Murogo, Executive Director
In 2024, our ED, Ms. Edith Murogo, was celebrated as a “TIP Hero” by the U.S. Department of State. This award acknowledges her tireless efforts to advocate for domestic workers and survivors of human trafficking. From spearheading training programs to promoting coordinated shelter services and lobbying for stronger legal protections, her work has made a transformative impact in Kenya and beyond.

2021 Stop Slavery Collaboration Award - Runners Up

Honored by: Thomson Reuters Foundation
This award from the Thomson Reuters Foundation recognized CDTD as a key player in the fight against modern slavery. We were acknowledged as runners-up in the Stop Slavery Collaboration Award for our efforts to drive community-centered solutions to exploitation, advocating for long-term, impactful collaborations.

Women’s International Day Unsung Hero Award

In recognition of her inspiring efforts to empower Kenyan women and girls, our ED was presented with the “Unsung Hero Award” on International Women’s Day by Ambassador Michael E. Ranneberger. This award celebrates her dedication as a role model and advocate for gender equality and empowerment.
